Peter Jorgenson

Thank you for stopping by.

I love business. More specifically, I love helping people and organizations reach their full potential. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve led Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Finance teams, led major organizational changes, and partnered with companies of every size, from Fortune 50 to small family businesses. Through all of it, I discovered that my greatest joy comes from leading people, developing talent, solving complex problems, and helping others accomplish meaningful work.

I am based in Carmel, Indiana, and much of my work and leadership experience comes from partnering with organizations across Indiana, including RNDC and many other companies.

Today, my primary focus is acquiring and operating a long-term portfolio of companies under The Jorgenson Companies. Much of my time is spent researching potential acquisitions, meeting with business owners, learning about their operations, and understanding their succession goals. My philosophy is simple: acquire great businesses, honor what makes them special, support the people who built them, and own them for the long term.

I believe strongly in shared ownership. Over time, each business I acquire will offer meaningful ownership pathways for team members. I want employees to participate in the value they create. We build these companies together and we succeed together.

I’m most interested in established, profitable businesses where ownership is thinking about succession and values long-term continuity. I’m especially drawn to companies with durable operations, strong cultures, and deep roots in their communities.

Industry matters less to me than people and fundamentals. Generally I am looking for businesses that have been operating successfully for many years and are ready for their next chapter under permanent ownership. If you’re exploring options or simply want to have a thoughtful conversation, I’m always open to connecting.

Alongside The Jorgenson Companies, I also co-lead Jorgenson Hutton Advisors. We provide strategic advising for leaders across all three tiers of the adult beverage industry (suppliers, distributors, and retailers) helping them navigate a uniquely complex system of sales coverage, regulation, market by market dynamics, and intense competition using our collective, battle tested experience. Between Corey Hutton and I, we have worked with the vast majority of the Wine & Spirit suppliers, representing over 90% of all the volume in the United States.

In addition, we specialize in helping adult beverage suppliers protect volume and execute with precision during distributor transitions and route to market changes. Distributor transitions are high-stakes moments: nationally, suppliers often see 5–15% annual sales loss during the 120-day transition window. Our work is built around preventing the majority of that loss by “buttoning down” the execution; creating alignment, accountability, and focus where it matters most. We don’t run or design RFPs; we complement them by ensuring the transition succeeds in the field, inside accounts, where sales are actually won or lost.

Jorgenson Hutton is rooted in hard earned experience. From 2009 to 2024, Indiana was an epicenter of distributor realignment. Corey Hutton and I led through that environment at SGWS and RNDC respectively, navigating mergers, repeated integrations, shifting supplier value, and constant change. At RNDC Indiana alone, I managed the losses and gains of over $1B in annual supplier revenue. More than double the average annual sales of RNDC IN during that time, with similarly large shifts on the SGWS side. Those are exceptionally unique amounts of transition leadership experience. Those lessons apply nationally, regardless of market size, because the execution risks are remarkably consistent.

If we’ve worked together before, thank you. I’m grateful for the partnership. If you’re a business owner considering a transition, I’d love to connect and learn about your goals, whether or not we end up being the right fit. And if you’re researching Jorgenson Hutton Advisors, you’re in the right place: this site, our JHA site, and LinkedIn will give you the best picture of who we are and how we work.

I hope we talk soon.

How I think about acquisitions

I’m interested in acquiring well-run, profitable businesses with strong fundamentals and long-term potential. I’m especially drawn to companies where ownership is thinking about succession and wants continuity for employees, customers, and the community.

I tend to prefer businesses with simple models, recurring demand, and real operating substance. Industry matters less to me than people, culture, and durability. In general, I’m looking for established businesses that have been operating successfully for many years, often decades, and typically fall within the small-to-lower middle market in terms of scale.

My primary geographic focus is Central Indiana, where I’m based, though I’m open to thoughtful conversations beyond the region when there’s a strong fit.

I care deeply about how companies treat their teams and customers, and I’m drawn to situations where long-term stewardship matters more than maximizing short-term outcomes. I believe strongly in shared ownership. Over time, each business I acquire will offer meaningful ownership pathways for team members. I want employees to participate in the value they help create. We build these companies together, and we succeed together.

If you’re looking for a buyer who is in it for the long term, values your team members, cares deeply about their well-being, and is committed to protecting your brand, legacy, and reputation over short-term outcomes, I may be a great fit. I welcome thoughtful conversations with owners who want to explore options and see whether we might be a good match.

ABOUT PETER'S LIFE

I’ve been married to my wife, Amy, for over twenty years, and we’re the proud parents of three wonderful kids. They are the center of my life and my greatest source of joy.

I grew up in the Twin Cities suburbs of Minnesota, always outdoors and always moving… hockey, golf, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, or anything active with friends. I graduated from St. Olaf College and was fortunate to play hockey there. I still love all of those things today, especially when I’m doing them with my kids.

After living in several places around the country, our family eventually settled in the Indianapolis area, where we’ve been for more than a decade. We love this community. As a family, we enjoy traveling, exploring new places, and experiencing the world’s food, nature, culture, and history together.

I’ve coached youth sports in Carmel for many years, which has been incredibly fulfilling. Helping kids build confidence, try new things, learn continuous improvement, and simply enjoy the process has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life.

My passion for business began early. As a kid, I ran baseball card tables at trade shows and fell in love with buying, selling, negotiating, and finding hidden value. In middle school, I shifted to studying bigger ideas from business magazines, WSJ, investing, leadership books, technology, systems, and the ways information can change the world. I built my first database for all my baseball cards in 6th grade so I could make the quickest decisions. That curiosity has stayed with me every since.

Every summer from 7th grade into college, I had the privilege of working in residential construction directly for the owner of a small company. From remodels, decks, roofs, and siding to clearing lots and building two homes, I was exposed to nearly aspect of the business. In hindsight, it was a hands on mini MBA… real work, real customers, real budgets, real bids, real problem solving, and real accountability. The lessons from those years still shape how I lead today: respect for craft, practical execution, taking pride in doing things right, building a great team, caring about your team, reputation over short term profits and building trust the best way, by showing up and delivering.

I’ve always been a business geek and still am. Everyday, starting my morning feels like my version of putting on a hockey jersey and stepping onto the ice. I love what I do.

Conservation, Community, and the Indianapolis Zoo

My connection to nature began early, growing up outdoors in Minnesota and spending time at the Minnesota Zoo. Conservation, sustainability, and helping people connect with the natural world have been passions of mine ever since.

I’ve been fortunate to serve on the Indianapolis Zoo Board for many years. It has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from the Zoo’s team, its leadership, and my fellow board members. Each deeply committed to protecting wildlife and inspiring others to care about our planet.

One of the highlights of my work with the Indianapolis Zoo was serving as Chair of Zoobilation for three years, the Zoo’s signature fundraising gala. Each June, nearly 6,000 guests gather for an unforgettable evening that supports the zoo. In 2024 alone, the event raised more than $2.6 million, and during my years of involvement, Zoobilation has generated well over $20 million to advance the Zoo’s mission.

I believe strongly in doing our part to make the world a better place for everything and everyone. My work with the Indianapolis Zoo is one way I try to live that belief.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I believe in making the world better place for everyone and everything. I try to lead in a way that helps others grow, stay true to themselves, and achieve more than they thought possible.

I value curiosity, self-reliance, and continuous improvement. I’m drawn to solving problems, connecting opportunities, and creating environments where people can succeed together.

Life is short, and our contributions are finite, so we should give our best to the things that truly matter.
